Reviewing MARC Catalog Completeness

1 min read 10 views

Before generating DepEd compliance reports, it is good practice to verify that your catalog records are complete and well-cataloged. The MARC Analytics dashboard helps you do this.

Accessing the Report

Go to ReportsMARC Analytics in the admin sidebar.

Key Metrics to Review

MARC Completeness % This shows what percentage of your records have MARC data. A higher percentage means better-cataloged records. Aim for 80% or higher before DepEd reporting season.

Quality Indicators Check the percentage of records with:

  • ISBN — important for tracking editions
  • Subject headings — required for DDC-classified inventory reports
  • Description — improves OPAC discoverability
  • Authors — required for author-based reports
  • Cover images — improves patron experience

Records Needing Attention The bottom of the dashboard shows the 10 most recently added records with missing or empty MARC data. Click any record to open the MARC editor and add the missing information.

  1. Open the MARC Analytics dashboard.
  2. Note the overall completeness percentage.
  3. Review the Records Needing Attention list.
  4. Open each record in the MARC Editor and add missing fields.
  5. Re-run the analytics to confirm the completeness percentage has improved.
  6. Proceed to generate DepEd reports.
